The author is clearly very well read yet introduces a number of their personal preferences into the text which are not standard of care (i.e. nesiritide as first line therapy for CHF exacerbation, 3% saline as medical management for hyperkalemia). Many of the questions follow a convoluted path to generate an answer, and sometimes the question being asked is different from the one for which the answer is 'right'.Useful text and I'll go through it, but the format and nature of the questions are pretty far off what makes it into boards or what you see in clinical practice. For fellows taking boards the first time- they may be awful and basically a useless hustle by the ABIM, but even they aren't this bad a foray into pedantic pimping. If you're batting 50% doing some of these chapters, don't worry too much and make sure to do the NephSap questionsAlso- using the textbook you authored as a reference without listing primary sources and claiming yourself as an authority is tacky at best and intellectually disingenuous at worst.A few weeks into using this- likely not worth the anxiety and increased need for antihypertensives for the reader. This desperately needs an edit- many of the questions are wrong- describing baking soda as an over the counter remedy containing 'calcium bicarbonate' as a cause of hypercalcemia, neglecting large anion gaps in the acid-base questions and not showing the math that leads to their wrong answer, and listing the different answers to the same questions (question 85).Pay an editor who knows the field to actually go through this- I'm giving up and using another source

Very detailed questions with good explanations. Good exposure for board questions. Large book with a lot of questions with good coverage on all renal topics. I like it a million times better than nephsap.

Probably the best question review book available on amazon, but riddled with calculation errors and statements that can be misinterpreted. ASN has some questions online as well, likely a bit more reliable than this source. I wish the authors would have taken editing more seriously in this book.. the simple arithmetic errors is frustrating 😑

Excellent review of nephrology. There are some errors, but the number and breadth of questions is impressive. I felt it was a good review for the value, and I am glad to say that I passed my re-certification exam with the help of this resource.

Powerful! I highly recommend this book by Jennifer Eivaz. I loved this book. I enjoyed her previous book Intercessors Handbook. Her books are very edifying. She teaches in clear understandable language regarding the discerning of the spirits, or seeing in the supernatural. She delves deep into one of the nine spiritual gifts described by Paul in 1 Corinthians 12. She is very practical. The chapters include1-Seeing both sides of the supernatural2-The gift of Discerning of Spirits3-Fundamentals of discerning of Spirits4-Discerning Spiritual Atmospheres5-Discerning who is for you and who is against you6-Dicerning the Angels7-Discerning the Powers and Principalities8-Whta to do with the things you discern Particularly helpful are chapters 4,5, and 8. The discerning of spiritual atmospheres is very interesting and she goes deep there. She not only uses the scriptures to back up her teachings, but also uses her experiences and real life stories to each through example. Chapter 5 is very useful. Discerning who is for you and who is against you. This is very helpful as we go into the workplace, into our places where we interact and socialize with others, Jennifer teaches us how to discern who is for us and who is against us ! Chapter 8 is also very useful, as we have learned how to discern in the precious chapters, she gives us very practical recommendations, what then are we supposed to do with those information ! I can't recommend this book more highly!

Wow! Really opened my eyes to things I'd wondered about before, but she put words to it and backed it up with scripture. A very helpful resource for those seeking to grow in the gift of discernment. Just by reading these few helpful hints, I am way more spiritually aware of things I was unsure of before! It has helped me to know better how to pray in different situations and dialogue with God about it. Has truly made a difference in my life.

Jennifer's book, Seeing the Supernatural, is wonderful! I devoured it in less than a week! Now my Mom is reading it. It is so timely and user friendly. It is a 'tool' that I will definitely hang on to and visit over and over. She explains and teaches from a place of power, authority, and grace, as she has walked out/through this gifting herself along with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Jennifer for pioneering, and listening to the Lord's leading in releasing this book on the gift of discerning of spirits. This book is a powerful blessing and answer for many people to begin to walk in the same bold authority and understanding, for such a time as this. I highly recommend!

Jennifer Eivaz goes into much detail explaining the unseen things that evolve around us. We must become aware and be willing to grow in Christ. She has titles that brings us into the supernatural, learning what the gift of discerning of spirits is and why we need to want it and be more aware. Learning about the fundamentals of distinguishing between the spirits , and so much more. You will be surprise so check it out for yourself and grow strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Amazing book- I found it by "mistake" but now i know that God guided me towards it. We went on family trip to Mammoth Mountain this weekend and I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. God will reveal amazing things to you through this book - if you allow it!! Highly recommend it!!

Our study group is using this book to learn about the gift of discerning of spirits. If you do not believe in the gifts of the Spirit according to 1 Corinthians 12 you may be turned off by it. As a Pentecostal minister I find it incredibly well written and understandable. The first two chapters expose the enemy and the darkness he resides in but the rest of the book glorifies the work of the Spirit of God! Do not be fearful in reading it, pray for discernment!! If you feel gifted in this area but are unsure how to be used in it, this is a good book that gives instruction. God bless you!!

This is a must read for the Body of Christ. Jennifer is a forerunner of explaining and breaking down this powerful gift in discernment of spirits. I appreciate that she did so much ground work with so many explanations and illustrations from others to get this into a book. Thank you Jennifer. You are a true gift to the body of Christ. Your roar in this book is not to scare but declare the Kingdom of God is at hand.

This is the second book I've read about this subject. The Veil by Blake K. Healy was the first book that I read. After reading his book and learning of his amazing supernatural gifts and encounters with the spiritual realm, I realized that my life and all the supernatural things I've encountered and experienced first hand was also happening to others around that world.I'm not crazy! I just need to find others in my area! A church in my area would be amazing but I don't believe there is one. If I walked into any Christian church's where I live and told them the supernatural things that i feel all around us with my GOD given senses they'd probably have me locked up. I never understood the church. They believe Jesus healed the sick, made blind men see, and walked on water ( to name a few) but anybody else having these abilities is not possible and must be pagan or witchcraft and if the devil.Well that's not so. I LOVE GOD/JESUS SO SO MUCH.Just the thought of his love for me beings tears to my eyes.

The book was well-written and informative, with a mildly amusing casual commentary by the author that added some levity to what sometimes could be rather dry anthropology academic jargon.My only critique is that 1. I thought the author should have fleshed out further the hashkafic [what he called 'sub-affiliations'] differences inside the Beverly-La Brea frum community (i.e. more into Ashkenazi v. Sephardic, Modern v. Yeshivish, Yeshivish v. Chassidic, etc.), 2. I felt the ending was anticlimax and gave the impression of 'more research needs to be done' rather than giving a concrete conclusion, and 3. I wish the author had contrasted La Brea with the Pico-Robertson frum community, but understand that may not have been feasible in his position.I liked it, however, and I recommend it strongly for those who want to learn about the Orthodox Jewish world, particularly its more right-wing L.A. neighborhood (in contrast to the frum neighborhood in Pico-Robertson, considered more Modern).
