An alternative title to this book could be, "What I learned losing my ego."After describing a meteoric rise to the top of the Chicago food chain, Jim Paul essentially boils down the secret of his success to being a cocky punk with an exceptional lucky streak that had to run out.I think he gives himself less credit than he deserves in ascribing all his early success to luck--it takes confidence and selling ability to take advantage of the "lucky breaks" he got--but that is beside the point. His main message is that success fed his ego until he felt that winning was his birthright. He thought he could do no wrong, which led to inevitable downfall.One small quibble. The ironic thing about Paul's stories of loss are that he was 99% there most of the time. If he hadn't have let the bean oil get back to zero, he could have walked away with at least a couple hundred grand in profits... if he hadn't let the stock options purchased for an eighth (or whatever it was) go to zero after seeing them hit $4, he could have had six figures in profit there again, etcetera.... I got the impression that even the big downfalls in this book were actually success stories with "oops" endings tacked on.In this light, I didn't really understand the blurbs on the back talking about how Jim Paul shows you the perils of the trading game. What perils? The perils of not taking a huge, monster profit when it is sitting in front of your face?This is why I have to think the book will probably just reinforce the ideas that readers already have when they pick it up. Someone with a big ego and a small mind could easily think in the back of his mind, "Nice story, Jim... good thing I won't make the same mistakes you made. Because while you just thought you were the man, I actually AM the man, heh heh..." But then again this isn't much of a criticism. I mean, who can reach those types anyway?The last half of the book reads almost like someone else wrote it, and has some very good points. I liked the way he took comments from a bunch of the "pros" (traders who have won big and kept their winnings) and juxtaposed their ideas, to show how successful traders' thought processes are sometimes totally different and often contradict each other.It really hammers home the point that there are multiple paths up the profit mountain, and that discipline and defense are often the only truly common elements among a broad universe of strategies. I also thought the book made a really great point about odds--hat the reward to risk ratio on a trade has nothing to do with actual probability of success for that trade.An entertaining book worth a weekend read.

As an introduction to the sounds of various instruments, this book works. However the music is often overlain by narration and has a truncated feel. And while the illustrations are colorful and appealing, this book (with its audio soundtrack) suffers greatly from a politically correct remake of the story. One example: evil (represented by the wolf) is not overcome, but rather negotiated with. He promises to not return if let go. Centuries-old, life lessons central to the original piece are substituted by mush. Not a satisfactory experience.

So the wolf gets to go back to the forest? How did i miss that?? And the duck gets out of the wolf's belly? Noooooo! Kids can handle the classic telling-- they are sensitive souls, but they understand life better than the rest of us. They can handle the truth. The Grandfather warns Peter of life's hard realities. We would all do well to appreciate that our elders hold great knowledge and should be listened to, even if they are cranks. This modern retelling is kind of a downer. Otherwise, the illustrations are nice.

A big disappointment. The tale has been rewritten to be politically correct. The best lines in the fairy tale are gone. The ending is mushy--and worst of all much music has been cut so it is considerably shorter. Too bad, too, because the illustrations are wonderful.

This is a perfect way to introduce orchestra music to children. Even my four year old requests to listen to this story quite frequently!

I grew up on this story. I love the music representation of the animals. I use this in my 5th grade class to introduce students to other ways to show characters.

The first 5-6 pictures were tiny, so tiny you couldn't even see them. Got better towards the end. Disappointing, I had to purchase a different version as I intended to show it to my class and this version could not be used.

My granddaughters LOVE listening to stories when we are driving anywhere in the car. If the tale involves music, all the better! This CD is entertaining and well-produced.

I remember Peter and the Wolf as a child. But this one is politically correct in that the wolf coughs up the duck and goes back to the woods in the the end. I seem to remember the wolf ate the duck and then got shot for his efforts. Politically correct ending now? If so, I like it better as kids shouldn't have to get attached to animals -- the duck - then have them die. Same with the wolf. Wolves are beautiful creatures.

Mr. Grau writes from the perspective of one who has many years of experience structuring succession plans and sales of financial practices.It is a must read for every prospective seller or buyer.If you go into negotiation hoping for the best ... in the words of sports columnist Werner Wolf "You Lose!"Any suggestion that you don't need to read this book you might well consider a Red Flag.

Sometimes books are perfectly targeted for exactly the stage you are in your life or business. I thoroughly enjoyed this refreshing, client centric approach to Buying, Sellling and Valuing Financial Practices. David and FP Transitions have provided a clear, concise and relevant description of the process from both the buyers and sellers perspective in todays market. More importantly they have clearly laid out the case for increasing the quality and transparency of the M&A process in our field.

This book gave an excellent introduction to the finer points of the transaction process. I had no idea how complex such a basic component like purchase price could be. The book also provides a surprising amount of detail on due diligence and documentation. Very useful for an advisor considering using acquisition as a growth strategy

This book is very useful for beginner.

The authors spent many pages of warnings rather than really useful tips. More sell promotion than formulas. A few standard forms in back though can find most on the internet. They never gave a good formula for valuation rather promoted paying someone like them thousands of dollars. The bit about due diligence was reasonable though could also easily be found online. A site like SuccessionLink is better connector to find interested parties and they wanted an email address to send their promotions to though for free gave a very good valuation of my practice..

Clay Walker is a popular country music star. He made his debut in 1993 with the single “What’s It to You,” which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. In addition, he has charted thirty singles on the country charts, including four more #1 hits, for a total of six. In the midst of his success, Walker went public with his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 1996 and founded a nonprofit foundation (Band Against MS) to fund MS research and education. This book is so well-written, down-to-earth, and filled with a Country Boy's wisdom that I'll probably re-read it just to soak up more of it. Not many books mirror my own beliefs and way of living my faith, but this one does. I can relate, too. I have m.s. I try to be a follower of Christ. And, I grew up country. I even had the privilege of growing up with a father who sounds like Mr. Walker's dad. My father himself grew up on a Kansas farm, plowing fields behind a horse and eventually serving in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He didn't go to church much, but he had a way of loving and living that is what God's Word asks us to do. I learned a lot from him and from Jesus, and it sounds like Mr. Walker learned from his earthly father and our Heavenly one as well. I can relate to the book and agree with its author -- Jesus is a country boy. Mr. Walker has a no-nonsense, gentle approach to explaining where the Church is stepping outside the common sense and down-home love that God wants to come from His kids. He does so while also giving the reader some good stories to chew on as well as some autobiography.The last chapter and this quote from the book give you a good taste of the straight-forward, earthy sort of meat you'll be getting with this book. The author is talking about the song that matches the title of this book -- "Jesus Was a Country Boy." He says, "It was one of those songs that I felt great about writing because it expressed my strong opinion on how we all relate to God and how this is distinct from the way organized religion often depicts it. As I've shared throughout these pages, I don't think you have to get dressed up and go to church every week to know God on an intimate level. I'm convinced he reveals himself all around us -- in the dappled sunlight falling on a creek bank, in the taste of Mama's fried chicken, in the sound of a child's laughter -- if we're only willing to pay attention." [I don't know what page that is, for I have the Kindle version of the book; my apologies.]Thank you, Mr. Walker, for writing this book and for creating "Band Against MS," raising money for research and education. Clay Walker shows a real affinity for telling it like it is in an easy reading format that catches your attention and makes you think. Too many preachers are in the business for their own fame and fortune. Walker will leave you really knowing ths country Jesus.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I downloaded it as an audio book as well, so I spent a lot of time listening. This book was one of the most honest and heart-felt books I've ever read/heard. I appreciate Clay Walker opening up his life and sharing his experiences and his faith in such a loving way. I personally am going through a lot of stuff and this book helped me change my perspective on some things for the better. I was truly blessed to read this book.

As a Christian myself, this book made things that I've learned in church seem so much easier to understand. I've been to church where they want you to think deeply about faith and Jesus Christ when a simple approach is better.This book meets that. It has taken the teachings of Jesus and made them easy to interpret.

Not only is Clay Walker a great country music singer!. But this man can write. I really enjoyed the book. I have given it to my friends to read.
