This book was not an easy read for me, but essential. I feel that this book is essential not just for people who are trustees of a special needs trust (SNT), but also for people who are are thinking of setting one up. I bought this book after reading Nolo's "Special Needs Trusts" and to me, it is a necessary companion for those who are setting up an SNT. This book helped me greater understand what could and should be done based on the context of what was in the SNT documents. It also explained the consequences, both good and bad, of many actions taken by the trustee. This book makes one aware of how to properly enhance the care of the person with special needs and not jeopardize their government assistance. So many things I would never have thought of on my own. A great investment.

The book is helpful but too indepth, Trying to find an answer is sometimes difficult as it is very wordy and not written in plain terms. The last section is the best where it gives you a summary of what is permissable.

I didn’t think I was going to like this book - sci-fy isn’t really my genre of choice - but the back cover blurb just sounded so freaking good, even with the whole being in love with a robot thing. I mean, come on, space outlaws are pretty much space pirates, and pirates are cool. I’m not a Star Wars fan, tech/mecha kind of bores me, and robots have creeped me out since Sky-Net, so I really thought it was going to be a pass. I downloaded a sample, because trying never hurt anybody, and I was pretty much sold from page three. I really loved this book. It was different without being too different, we have a whole Anastasia element thrown in, on top of a cool-as-hell ship Captain with fiber glow hair, a boy looking for his father and finding a little bit more than he bargained for, a sarcastic pilot with secrets of his own, a “Metal” who seems pretty human from the get-go, a prohpecy, a big bad...I mean, really this book kind of has everything.(Spoiler-ish)I was a little thrown at first that a human girl was all in love with a robot. It’s kind of weird, however way you spin it. But the author did a really incredible job of making it not that weird once you get to know the characters, and the plot, a bit more.(End spoiler-y part)Anyway, if this review is disjointed - and it might be - here’s the gist: it’s a good book that’s definitely worth the read. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel.Oh, it doesn’t really end on a cliffhanger, so much as “here’s the end of part 1.”

My expectations were insanely high for this book: I mean, Anastasia in Space! Robots! Rebels! Rogues! I'm a sucker for space stories and I need some good pirates in my life, so I was stoked beyond belief when I heard about this book. Instant preorder. So I would take this review with a grain of salt, since I might be a little overly critical.The worldbuilding in the book was phenomenal. I loved the solar system where the adventure takes place, the religion the author created, the political tension. I loved how the author took the familiar narrative of Anastasia's story and wove it into the fabric of space. However, this worked also against the author, because some of the twists were seen miles, and I mean miles, ahead. Even in the blurb you can work some details out. It also means if you can figure out who the supporting characters represent, you can figure out the villains ahead of time, too.Which is not to say that the author didn't have any tricks up her sleeves! She still manages to surprise the reader throughout the book. The true strength was in the characters themselves: into Ana, the brilliant rebel, who I want more than anything to know IRL. Or Jax, my absolute favorite character, who I need to read more of right now. Everything about his race, the Solani, made my heart soar.And the imagery used is stunning! Though perhaps a little overused - so much swearing on Iron and Stars, y'all - but it's so gosh darn gorgeous. There are lines upon lines I want to highlight and remember forever, or even paint on my wall.All in all, while the plot is mildly predictable, the characters are loveable and the ending will leave you gutted. I can't wait to learn more about the metals and to see Ana fight for a cause. This is only the beginning of what's going to be a formidable series!

I'm really torn on this review. This plotline had so much potential, and there were times I really was on the edge of my seat and loving it. Ultimately, though, I think the author leaned a lot on cliches and the book felt a little all over the place at times. For most of the book, I felt like I didn't really know the characters personalities at ALL; they seemed very flat to me, however that had somewhat changed by the end. I was definitely skeptical about a love story involving a robot but believe it or not... I came around to it pretty quickly when the chapters shifted to Di's POV. Also, I felt like I was able to predict the "twists" 9/10 times, which was a little disappointing. Overall, I did want to immediately read the sequel so it has that going for it, but I'm just hoping the next book we get to see some more character development and fewer cliches.

Ana loves the robot/AI who saved her as a child. She falls in love with him knowing that he can't really return her love in a substantive way. So all her actions seem reckless and stupid, on balance. When he's eventually programmed to kill her (SPOILER), I wasn't really surprised at all, in fact, I would have been more shocked had he not come after her. What is sad, to me, is the perpetual myth/legend/storyline of women, especially young and beautiful women, falling in love with someone or something that is unable to return their affections...the impossible love, as unattainable as Galitea, as Spock on Star Trek, as Data on Star Trek Next Gen, as the holographic doctor on ST Voyager, etc. Somehow writers seem to find these one-sided love affairs irresistible, while they always make me sad for the person doing the yearning, because they will always remain unfulfilled.

These stories are really interesting for me (I'm 9) and my 7 year old sister. I really like how the answers to the mysteries are behind doors so you don't have to see the answer if you don't choose to. I really like how when you open the door, the answers to the mysteries are clever. Also, the pictures are really nice. It's a great read.

My niece dove right on in to this book and couldn't wait to get to solving all the fun little mysteries. She was so into it!! She also loves American girl products to begin with. She seemed really into this gift --so if your girls love to read and solve mysteries, they'll just devour this.

My daughter loved this book. It kept her entertained for a long time. She loved it when she solved a mystery correctly.

It was fun.

My 8-year-old daughter loves these stories and has a lot of fun solving the little mysteries in each. They characters are diverse, relatable, and engaging, and the stories are just the right length for this age group. "Just one more!" is a common request...and since they're pretty short it's easy to say yes and read story after story!

This book was really fun to read because they were short but fun to untangle with still lots of clues for each mystery. You can sit down and read for a short time or read for a long time depending on how you feel. I think it was nice to have the doors as the answer keys. That was a cool feature. I enjoyed it! -9 year old reader

My favorite story was "How to Scare a Zombie". I give this a 100/5 stars!

This book-length interview of American painter Wayne Thiebaud collects many insightful and historically important stories and anecdotes and teachings into one small volume. It is full of Thiebaud's legendary humor and wisdom, a must for any student of painting in the 21st century. Daubert and Aschiem are former students of Professor Thiebaud and they know where to go with the questions to get a real sense of how the artist thinks and works. Must read, and re-read!

I wasn't sure what I was getting when I ordered this book. As an admirer of Thiebaud's artwork, I found his opinions, observations and comments on his art and art in general very interesting and thought provoking as an artist myself. There are a number of artists/artwork references made during the interview sessions made by both parties that I found myself going on the internet to see who or what was being tales about. And I guess that is where I was a little disappointed in this book, I wish it had been more self-contained with additional images of these works instead of my having to go and search for them on another source. At least the works presented in the book are in color and not B&W, which is always an awkward way of presenting a full color piece of art. If you are a fan of Mr. Thiebaud, you will enjoy this book regardless. If you are new to his work I'd suggest buying something with more reproductions of his art first before getting Episodes.

These interviews are full of Wayne Thiebaud's wit and wisdom. The book is an amazing insight into one of the greatest painters of our generation. The questions from two wonderful artists in their own right are thought out and probing. It is a great read for seasoned artists as well as students.
