This booklet provides a fine checklist for reviewing your own designs or doing home inspections. This checklist is not intended to be a replacement for your building code books. You still need to have a firm understanding of the codes. Code Check does serve as good 'tickler' on thoses codes that you do not refer to regularly and helps make sure that you don't overlook something.

I am a builder but not so on top of code that I do not need to reference. This is a very concise source that has most of what you need for day to day building. Should have had this from day one. First saw it being referenced by my building inspector and a light went on. If a building inspector is using it, shouldn't I be using it? Best decision I ever made.

This series is probably the best--it lives in the job site bag...it is well-organized with good graphic organization, up-to-date, and a fairly comprehensive code reference; naturally, the content isn't completely exhaustive, but it does an excellent job of presenting the most useful code compliance information all in one convenient package.

I built my house 3 years ago and this book was indispensable! I passed every inspection with no dispute. This book made it through 7 months of construction living in a gang box and held up WELL. Great product.I highly recommend this book!

The right price but not very complete. In its defense, I have not seen a better one. It had way more than some of the self help books.

The book is a little technical, but tells you what you need to know about a house.All handymen should really read this first, then start working.

My suggestion, if you're going to actually open this book and especially if you are going to use it frequently, invest the extra money in the hard cover!I'm sure this is not the seller's fault, but I bought this in paperback to save on cost. I haven't used it that much at this point, but the spine has broken and a large chunk is now completely loose from the book. And each time I try to turn one of those pages, no matter how carefully, they rip off as well. I am super (slightly neurotic) about all of my books so I'm not handling this one too roughly. For the price of this book and how often I'm sure people will use it, they should do something about the spine. I know a few other people who this has happened to.

I was a little hesitant purchasing this book based on the feedback other buyers have shared; I was however in need of it and the price certainly convinced me to give it a try. The book I received has some printing issues, but not nearly as bad as what others have experienced. My copy is printed on two different stocks of papers. The first half of the book is printed on glossy paper and the other half on regular stock perhaps 24lb or 32lb. Other than that and a few pages printed at a slight angle the book serves its purpose and though it is used it is in great condition. My copy has no misspelled words nor duplicate or missing pages as others have reported.

I recently realized that this DSM is missing pages 421-468. The book is seemingly in perfect condition and aside from this huge issue, which was unaware to me until I needed to reference certain diagnoses and realized the pages are COMPLETELY GONE!

I understand everyone's frustration about it not being spiral bound. However, and I know this costs slightly more money for something that should have been thought of before it was mass produced, you can get it spiraled at a place like Office Max for less than $10. They will slightly shave off the binding and spiral it for you, making it actually functional for it's purpose. Just thought I should share this :).Happy diagnosing!

ITEM IS A BOOTLEG copy. As a clinical social worker, I used to get a copy of the DESK REFERENCE issued by my employer and the quality of this one compared to others I've had is night and day. The copy purchased through Amazon has: 1) wonky spiral binding that makes it difficult to turn the pages, 2) pages are stuck together at the punch hole for spiral binding and tear when trying to separate, 3) paper quality is ultra thin and circa 1980's xerox copy machine in quality and texture, 4) some of the holes for spiral binding are actually punched through the writing/descriptions on the page, 5) many pages are printed CROOKED, 6) headings on some pages are actually "smeared" or running off the page. Amazon, you need to investigate this seller!!!

This is a poor version compared to the one I bought in 1994. The pages are tissue thin. I have had it not even a year and it is falling apart and I rarely use it...seriously, rarely use it and it is cheap!! Not impressed with this book at all!! Do yourself a favor and find one in a bookstore and try it out rather than buy online. I should have returned it but...oh, well, that's my bad! But seriously, if you do order one online, make sure you can return it if you don't like it.

The price is too good to be true. The book took weeks to arrive and now that it has, it's missing pages 215-244 and has 245-276 twice.

The reviews about fake books are legit. I ordered mine used (not the cheapest one either, paid 70 bucks). Got a fake copy, pages seemed to all be there but multiple pages were crooked, and the text on the cover looked somewhat blurry.

About the Author

Wendell Berry (b. 1934) is a novelist, poet, farmer, and environmental writer and activist. He has published over fifty books, including more than two dozen books of poetry, sixteen essay collections, and eight novels. In 2010 he was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama, and in 2013 he was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. At the end of the previous novel, Lady Julia and Brisbane, after an amazing sequence of "yes/no" reversals, had finally recognized their love for each other and gotten married. That, for me, created a hope that in the next novel, they would mature in their interactions, but--unfortunately--that was not the case, and we are left with another situation where they hide secrets and work as much against each other as with each other. And that is why I'm not likely to read any more books in this series.That said, the setting of this novel (India) is portrayed richly, and some of the secondary characters do develop and change (Portia and Plum, for instance). I may, I suppose, come back at some point, but for now I am jumping ship and looking for some new series to pursue.

I enjoy the clever banter and familial nature of these stories. Glimpses of Victorian England and the changing lives of that era, with the advent of trains, the telephone and women's lives. Also enjoy the relationship between Julia and Brisbane very much. How can you go wrong with half Scot and half gypsy?

Great books to read at night before bed. Interesting and engaging but not so compelling that I can't fall asleep. Strange praise, I know, but I need books like that in my life! They hit the spot!

I loved the writing, the characters, and the situations these ladies continually get into. It is a fun series, and I would love to purchase more of her books!

Lady Julia Grey remains as amazing as ever!
